Each year the Future Focus program highlights proven solutions for local businesses and reveals what resources businesses and local government are utilizing to enhance the business climate in their communities.  The event highlights current initiatives of our Regional Planning Committee; which ensures WCCCC is actively engaged and well versed in the programs and actions taking place in our community. 



Topics of Discussion:

Susan Springsteen | NTH Solutions, LLC and h20 Connected

“Susan is the co-founder of nth Solutions, LLC, a product development, manufacturing, and business incubation company – and the President of H2O Connected, a leak detection company incubated by nth Solutions. H2O Connected developed the only automatic and reliable leak, running, and overflowing toilet detection device for the 300+ million tank-based toilets in North America alone.  As the first woman-owned QOZ business to locate in Coatesville, Susan will discuss the factors attracting H2O Connected to Coatesville and why early stage businesses can be a great fit for the QOZ program – one that is often overlooked.”
 


David Sciocchetti | Economic Development Consultant to the Chester County Commissioners

David will focus on what communities like Coatesville have to do to take full advantage of the Opportunity Zone program with some examples. He will also discuss what to expect from the program going forward. Unlike other incentive programs, this is a market-driven approach to encourage private equity investment in low-income communities. Investors roll over capital gains from other investments into Qualified Opportunity Funds (QOFs), which invest in real estate and/or business equity within Qualified Opportunity Zones (QOZs).



 

Lane is a co-owner of Mark Lane Properties, a real estate development company that focuses on bringing old, vacant structures back to life. Lane Udis and his partner, Mark Sherman have a unique ability to take forgotten buildings and neighborhoods and turn them into thriving artist and creative communities complete with studio, restaurant and entertainment space. With an already flourishing portfolio in Philadelphia, Lane and Mark saw great opportunity in Coatesville. Lane will discuss what attracted their company to the area and why the area could really benefit other developers and business owners looking to get involved with the QOZ program
